An empty mind is a key in meditation, so it can be the most deep as it can get to be. Big obstacles in meditation usually are the thoughts that flow in our mind and don’t let us hear our inner self and discover our spirit.
We recommend this exercise to practice and reach a silent mind:
The first thing to do is to relax. Take deep breaths and stay calmed and quiet. Silence is important in the room. You can close your eyes, it will help you to relax and stay focused.
Once we are relaxed, we will visualize ourselves on a train’s rails. We will observe for a little while the landscape, the rail, ourselves… Keep that image for a few moments in your mind.
Once this image is clear and solid in our mind, we will hear the sound of a train that is approaching on the left. Hear how it approaches slowly.
After a few moments, finally, you will see the train you were hearing, and it stops in front of you. You will stay there, watching it for a little while, while you discover how large it is, what color it has, etc.
Now, you will visualize that your thoughts become sheets of papers. For example, your work problems can be on a sheet of paper, the bill you have to pay on another one, a fight with someone, your to do list, etc… It is vital that you take your time and visualize every thought you have and are disturbing your mind.
Every thought that has been turned into a sheet of paper you will then put them into the train. Take your time, as much time as you need, but don’t let any paper out.
Once you finally have put all your thoughts inside the train, watch how little by little it starts and leaves with them…
Now, you’re on the rails again, alone. No thought in your mind can disturb your meditation.
This exercise can also be used when our head is giving it too much thought to an issue and won’t let us sleep or take a time out.
Do not forget that meditation is the only way to discover ourselves, our spirituality. It is the best way to connect to God and the Universe. You will feel refilled with energy and joy. There is no way to feel sad after a good meditation. Joy is in you, once the mind is blocked, spirituality and joy take over our body and our higher self. Listen to everything that your meditation tells you; don’t forget about your visions. Although they are not the goal of the meditation itself, they are a way to go on solving your problems and inner conflicts. When you are meditating, your higher self talks to you, and also your masters and even God speak to you to teach you and show you the way you should follow.
